Leadership training for introverts
Your people are your greatest investment.
Now, more than ever, it’s time to invest in the wellbeing of your introverted employees: their growth is your growth.
Whether that’s by providing a systematic approach to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), or ensuring that you are maximising opportunities for your talents’ development, you can be assured that supporting your workforce will boost engagement and performance and reduce turnover and absenteeism.
Progress with DEI is slow: McKinsey (2020) found that hiring diverse talent isn’t enough and recommended ‘bold steps to tackle inclusion’. The boldest step you can take is including introversion into your strategy for building an inclusive workplace.
At least 50% of your talent will be introverts, yet it’s likely your workplace systems, environment and hiring procedures are all biased in favour of extroversion.
Don’t sleep on top talent: nurture them.
With several studies suggesting introversion is actually a form of neurodiversity, and one that impacts ALL types of workplace identities, incorporating introversion into your DEIB agenda will have a significant impact on your ability to create true, intersectional, equity and inclusion.
Invest in your introverted employees and watch your productivity, profit margins and retention soar.

You need more than a DISC assessment to get the most out of your introverted talent. An introvert myself, I have studied introversion and use my knowledge to dispel common misconceptions. There is a societal and workplace bias towards extroversion that is having a detrimental impact on both employee and business success: set yourself apart from the competition by taking action today.
One of the most common misconceptions is that introverts don’t make good leaders as they lack presence; the opposite is actually true. Introverted leaders have many strengths, but the reality is they’re in the minority, and often introversion is seen as a weakness when it comes to leadership: this has been confirmed by numerous studies spanning almost two decades:
- A 2006 Harvard Business Review Poll reported that 65% of executives viewed introversion as a barrier to success.
- In 2009, a study by Ortiz and Dilchert found that 96% of leaders and managers identified as extroverted and just 3% of executives identified as introverted.
- The Sutton Trust reported in 2016 that highly extroverted people had a 25% higher chance of being in a high-earning job.
This is partly due to affinity bias in the hiring process, but also the extroversion bias, which rewards stereotypically extroverted qualities and primarily only acknowledges those who speak the loudest.
The reality, however, is that extroverts don’t statistically make better leaders.
Research by the National Bureau of Economics, published in 2016, revealed that CEOs who scored highly in extroversion ran companies with a 2% lower return on assets than the average. Conversely, introverted CEOs ran companies that outperformed their peers. Read this article to discover the truth about introverted leaders.
I work both with key stakeholders to help you uncover and remove bias in your company, helping you to develop a strategy that will improve inclusion and nurture your introverted talent, and also your introverted employees to help them thrive; I have a special interest in providing training for introverted leaders so that they are able to change the company’s culture from the inside out. I’ve also coached introverted executives, helping them to better understand themselves and how to leverage their strengths.
Why listen to me?
I’ve been working in Learning and Development for over 20 years, and have over a decade’s experience of workshop facilitation and training trainers: I’ve delivered training to well over 10,000 delegates to date.
During this time I have worked with individuals from almost every sector, from teachers to C-suite leaders, and with every conceivable size of audience.
I’ve facilitated a diverse range of workshops: from pedagogy to leadership skills; innovation and Design Thinking to change management and resilience; presentation skills to Value Proposition and microaggressions to mindset. My specialism is leadership training, especially leadership training for introverts.
When the pandemic hit, I helped all 8k of Google’s #IamRemarkable facilitators around the globe pivot from face-to-face to online workshop delivery, proving it’s possible to create virtual learning experiences that are every bit as impactful as in-person ones.
I’ve helped countless facilitators improve their skills – and, most importantly, their confidence.
Additionally, I have managed the onboarding of new trainers, put quality assurance systems in place and improved their performance by providing tailored feedback, as well as assisted hundreds of companies around the world scale an initiative internally and improve their learning design.
I’m also one of the world’s leading experts in introversion, and have been working in the field of DEIB since 2019.
Most importantly, I am passionate about what I do.
I want to help you support your talent and make your workplace more inclusive for intersectional identities, and my extensive experience means that I know exactly how to provide training and consultancy that has real impact. I can also help support your introverted leaders as someone who understands how to help them thrive.
